The drama The Day Will Come takes place in 1967 and is the story of the inseparable brothers Elmer and Erik. The boys have been placed at the Gudbjerg orphanage since their lone mother has been struck by grave illness. At Gudbjerg traditional methods are in use to make maladjusted kids pull themselves together, but violence and humiliation is also everyday occurrences. The director is leading by example in the disciplined treatment of the pupils and he is mercilessly enforcing his power. The shock is big for Elmer and Erik, who nevertheless have a hope for something better, and together the brothers start to plan their escape.
