Hippo Love follows an evening-long encounter between two strangers at a wedding in Greece, both facing breakups. As Touko, a married musician, is drawn to Eevis, his pop-star wife Leena senses their chemistry. Against a seaside backdrop, the night explores love, relationships, and desire through intimate conversation.
Director
Dome Karukoski is one of Finland’s most internationally known directors. In 2013, he was on Variety’s 10 Directors to Watch list. His films have been a success both critically and at the box office. He has been nominated for the Jussi award for best director with six of his feature films, winning the award twice. In 2019, Karukoski made his Hollywood debut with the biopic Tolkien, distributed by Fox Searchlight Pictures.
