You are alive as long as someone remembers your name.

My Name is Hope offers a first-person perspective on life inside a Syrian intelligence service prison, giving the

audience a glimpse into what a prisoner senses. Blending personal reflections with real stories of political prisoners, the film sheds light on those imprisoned not for crimes, but for holding opinions contrary to a brutal regime. The story follows a young university student trapped in solitary confinement.

Through voices echoing along the prison corridors and the narrow opening of a food hatch, he observes a senior janitor training a new recruit on his first day—an absurd yet mundane routine in a nightmarish environment. The prison is a microcosm of a corrupt system that dehumanizes both captors and captives, a place that has gathered wolves, sheep, and shepherds within its suffocating walls.

Time loses all meaning as prisoners grapple with the fear of being forgotten, while a violent power struggle mirroring the war outside unfolds in the prison’s hallways. The film explores the experience of imprisonment under tyranny, revealing the strength of integrity in an era where forgetfulness has become the deadliest weapon against freedom. It’s a tribute to those whom dictators wish forgotten.
